Let’s talk a bit about religion, hate, love, and ignorance…..
I have been on a journey of sorts to bring more peace in my life. It’s been a hard one, and I’m not perfect, but I have been trying to change my life to bring in more positive than negative. I have found in my travels around the World that the different people that I’ve met are just like you and I and want the same thing, to be happy, to have peace, and to find someone to spend the rest of their lives with, etc. I’ve had my eyes opened and have ‘taken the red pill’ and now I see what they World is really like and at times it can be a scary place, but most the time it’s beautiful……
One thing that I have found over the years that most people are ignorant. Ignorant isn’t a bad word, according to the dictionary it means ‘lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man. or lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact. I have also found that people are also very misinformed by the general media and just by not finding out the facts for themselves by reading and educating themselves about a subject before they judge a person, place, or thing.
Let’s talk about religion for a bit…..
Take Christianity for instance. There are real Christians who take their everyday lives and live in peace, love everybody, and follow God’s word even out of the church. They don’t judge, they don’t hate, and they know how to forgive people and themselves. Then there are the so called Christians who go to church on Sunday to make themselves feel better and to socialize and then as soon as they walk out of church they start to live their lives judging, hating, and not forgiving, but they always let you know that they are good Christians and that they go to church on Sunday. These are not true Christians. These are hypocrites, I know quite a few, but I don’t judge them this is just how they are.
The same goes with any religion though. You have your true follower’s and then you have your untrue followers; people who classify themselves as a religion, but don’t follow it.
Then there are the scary religious fanatics…..A fanatic is someone who doubles the effort when he loses sight of the goal. Fanatics are people who live on the extremes. They are completely left or right of center. In their world, its how they show their commitment to a cause or ideal, while looking down on the people in the middle. The problem is that some people cross the line from discussion to physical violence against others. People have harmed and murdered in the name of religion. It doesn’t make a religion bad or faulty. It means that some people crossed that line. To be fair, they were not following the teachings of the religion, and in fact, most monarchs used religion as a “holy cloak” to carry out their political ambitions under the guise of a holy gesture. How do I know this? What did those armies do when they were victorious? They murdered, raped, and stole from the ones they conquered. I would have expected them to do something religious, but they didn’t. They did something political. Religion was used as a ruse to carry out irreligious activity.
…..and now back to ignorance…..
The media portrays different cultures and religions as bad when a lot of the time the culture or religion isn’t bad at all, but just misunderstood by society. The American people are taught that all of Islam is bad and that all Muslims are terrorists. This just isn’t true and to say that it is is extremely ignorant. Look at all the wars that were fought for Christianity or Catholicism. People have killed, raped, maimed, and worse in the name of God over the centuries, but that doesn’t make all Christians and Catholics bad does it? Take a look at the Old Testament and be glad that the Christian religion doesn’t follow the rules of that any longer! If they did they would be stoning you to death for committing adultery. I have many friends of all different religions and cultures, including Muslims. I have talked to them gotten to know them and found that they are just like you and I.
Not all Jews hate Muslims and not all Muslims hate Jews. Not all the Irish are IRA and not all American’s are Rednecks. You see the point that I’m getting at?
The teachings of the Bible, the Quran, etc. have changed over the years. I mean what do you expect when over the century’s it’s been passed down from different versions of each religion and the people have made it their own as time has moved on. Everyone has a different view of what the Bible says. For instance, the movie Inception with Leonardo Decaprio. What was your version of it? Everyone seems to have a different view of the meaning of that movie right? Was he in a dream, was he in a dream within a dream, or was he awake? Well it’s the same as with religion. Different interpretations, different views, and different extremes.
The point that I am making in this post is that I refuse to hate someone because of what religion, or what culture, or what color they are. It’s not right to do that. I believe in Karma, reincarnation, I believe that my soul will move on to another body when my body dies and it will live on until I get it right and can then be one with the big guy (or girl) upstairs. I am of the belief that not one religion is right. I guess my beliefs are more along the line of the Hindu, and that’s OK, but I don’t classify myself with any one religion.
Whether you agree with me or not it’s ok, because it’s what you believe. I won’t hate you because of your beliefs. Hate is a strong word and it’s a negative emotion. We need to learn about a religion, a culture, or a person before we can judge. I try not to judge people, but I won’t tolerate a hateful mean person and will not allow them to be part of my life. Learn to love, educate yourself, and give people a chance or things will never change…..
Until next time……
