Why Is America So Divided: Why Categories Hurt Us As a Country

You seriously can’t make anyone happy any more.  right-wing-left-wing-SS

You can’t talk about religion, politics, sex, etc. without anyone getting upset about something.  When did America become such a pussified country?  Or yet, when did America become so divided?

We put each other in categories, and then when some nut in that category does or says something stupid we all get blamed for it cause we are in the same category as said nut.

For instance:  Liberals seem to think that all Republicans live in the Midwest and are white, fat, Christian, hate the gays, are racist, etc. and Republicans think that all Liberals are hippies, gay, feminists, black, etc.

It’s stupid to think just because you are one or the other that you are just alike.

For instance, I am an Independent.  Yes, I lean more to the right with my beliefs, but I do understand and agree with some of the left beliefs.  I don’t knock you if you don’t agree with me, I simply just ask why and have a conversation with no blaming or yelling.

We are all Americans.  We all bleed red.  We all die.  So why not try and get along and discuss in an adult manner instead of instantly blaming each other for something they didn’t do or something they may not agree with you on?

Here are a few things you may not know about me when it comes to some issues that people get very passionate about:

  • I think that government should stay out of my business.  It is none of their business how much money I have in my bank account or how many people live in my house, if I wear my seat belt or a helmet, etc. (you get it)
  • I think that government should not tell anyone who they can marry based on race, religion, sexual orientation, ect.
  • I think that government should not tell me if I can die or not if I have terminal condition
  • I vote Independent because I think the majority of our Republican and Democrat leaders are fucked in the head and have together caused America to become what it is now.
  • I honestly don’t think our vote counts at the Federal level.  I believe that our government has an agenda to take total control of America and Americans making it so that we (us Americans) will have only them to rely on one day. (go ahead call me a conspirasist)
  • I don’t belong to an “organized” religion.  I believe there is a God, but I don’t classify him into one religion.  I believe in love, faith, Karma.
  • I have Muslim friends.  I don’t believe that all Muslim’s are bad like the Media would like us to think, and I know this first hand.
  • I think that everyone has a right to their opinion, but should be smart enough to know when it is a good time or a bad time to give it.

…and the list goes on and on, but my point is; just because someone doesn’t agree with you or doesn’t have the same belief system as you is in no way to bash them.  If you don’t agree, simply discuss or don’t say anything at all.  It’s that simple.

Until next time…
